If you or a loved one took out critical illness insurance (a policy intended to pay out if you fall critically ill) or life insurance (intended to pay out when the policyholder dies) but the insurance company has refused to pay out you do NOT have to accept their decision. All insurance companies have to have a clear complaints process and you ought to use it to record your complaint.
Even if this does not change their decision you are entitled to take your complaint to the Financial Ombudsman Service who will make a decision on what is fair and reasonable to both parties. If you need help with this process, we at Sentinels Solicitors can help you giving you the best chance of making a successful claim.
